Morro Bay Bird Festival
Each January, the Morro Bay Bird Festival transforms our waterfront into a gathering place for bird lovers from across the globe. Lions members welcome visitors, help with event support, and enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of shorebirds, raptors, and migrating flocks. Our photos show not only the beauty of nature—but also the camaraderie of service in action.
Lions Car Giveaway & Cruisin’ Morro Bay Car Show
Every May, classic cars, roaring engines, and gleaming chrome take over downtown for the Cruisin’ Morro Bay Car Show. Our Lions booth is right in the middle of the action, and this is where we present a Car Giveaway vehicle—onstage, in front of hundreds of applauding spectators. The energy, the history, and the generosity all shine through in these photos.
A coalition of Todd’s Garage, Community Resource Connections & the Morro Bay Lions Foundation donate 3-4 cars/year to needy individuals & families. Few moments are as moving as handing over car keys to someone whose life will change instantly. Since 2014, the Morro Bay Lions have gifted over 45 reliable vehicles to individuals and families in need. Each image in this section shows the hugs, smiles, and sometimes tears that come with newfound independence and opportunity.
Lions Vision & Eyeglass Screenings
Morro Bay Lions support the Lions Eye Foundation which provides specialized eye care & cataract surgeries at no cost to patients referred by the club. Clarity changes everything. In these photos, you’ll see Lions volunteers conducting SPOT vision screenings at local schools, fitting students with glasses, and celebrating those first moments of clear sight. Each pair of glasses represents a brighter future, a better learning experience, and a child who can fully engage in the classroom.
Celebrate Halloween in Morro Bay with the Lions
When October rolls around, our members trade aprons and clipboards for costumes and candy buckets. During the Downtown Halloween Walk, we greet hundreds of trick-or-treaters and their families, adding a Lions touch of fun and safety to this Morro Bay tradition. Our gallery is full of spooky smiles, colorful outfits, and the joy of a community coming together.
Health & Wellness Fair
Health is at the heart of service. The Lions join local organizations in offering screenings, resources, and education at the Health & Wellness Fair. Whether it’s checking vision, sharing nutrition tips, or connecting residents with vital services, these photos show our commitment to helping neighbors live well.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Each November, the Morro Bay Lions Club leads the Morro Bay Community Thanksgiving Dinner—a heartfelt gesture of care and connection. What began decades ago as a sit-down festive meal has evolved into a drive-up / walk-up and delivery event, but the purpose remains the same: to ensure that no one in our community goes without a warm Thanksgiving dinner who wants one.
New to the 2025 Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be the coordinating partnership between the Lions Club and the local Morro Bay Police Department. Once again, we anticipate at least 800 meals to be served which will include home delivery as well as walk-up and drive-through service.
Holiday Giving Toy Drive
The holiday season is our busiest—and most heartwarming—time of year. From wrapping toys to delivering food baskets, the Morro Bay Lions make sure no neighbor is forgotten. In these pictures, you’ll see members sorting gifts, sharing holiday meals, and creating moments of comfort for families who need it most.
Monday Night Dinners at the Vets Hall
Every Monday evening, the doors of the Morro Bay Veterans Memorial Hall open for a hot, homemade meal—and everyone is welcome. In these photos, you’ll see Lions volunteers serving plates, pouring coffee, and sharing conversation with guests from all walks of life. It’s more than dinner—it’s connection, compassion, and community in action.
SLO Food Bank Partnership
Our partnership with the SLO Food Bank and other food rescue markets such as Spencer’s Market are the backbone of many of our meal programs, from Monday Night Dinners to holiday drives. These images capture the unloading of trucks, the sorting of produce, and the teamwork that ensures fresh, nutritious food reaches our neighbors who need it most.
Glimpses of Grace
Ordinary faces, extraordinary heart. Every step of our journey holds meaning. This collection gathers highlights that remind us who we are as Lions and why we serve together in Morro Bay.
