About Us

For more than 80 years, Morro Bay Lions have served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbors, our communities and our world first.

Through the incredible work of our Lion members, and the support of our association and our global foundation, we are serving a world in need together.

The Morro Bay Lions Club has proudly served the Morro Bay and Los Osos areas since joining Lions Clubs International—the world’s largest service organization with over 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs across 200+ countries—under the motto “WE SERVE.” Our dedicated volunteers—residents from all walks of life, including veterans, teachers, retirees, and local business owners—work together to improve lives in our local community and beyond.

Our club focuses on local service initiatives while contributing to global efforts like eradicating preventable blindness. We partner locally to support community meals, vision screenings, scholarships, and events—each designed to uplift and strengthen our community.

We’re led by talented, dedicated volunteer Leaders from around the world. And we’re supported by the Lions International Foundation, which helps fund Lions Humanitarian Projects throughout the world.

We’re celebrating more than 80 years of Lions history.

  • The Morro Bay Lions Club was established in October of 1945 and has become an integral part of the District 4‑A3 Lions family, rooted in decades of community service (then District 4‑C1).
  • Over the years, our members have:
    • Provided eyeglass recycling and vision screenings in local schools and community centers.
    • Hosted monthly Community Dinners and supported food-insecure families.
    • Awarded scholarships to deserving Morro Bay High School graduates.
    • Assisted local organizations like Salvation Army, Morro Bay in Bloom, youth sports, park preservation, and Memorial Hall upkeep.
  • Our projects extend to impactful giveaways—such as cars for those in need—and citizen service like American Flag programs during national holidays.

We’re on a mission.

At the Morro Bay Lions Club, our mission is to empower community resilience through service. We strive to:

  • Offer vision services and eyeglasses to individuals and students in need.
  • Serve nutritious community meals each month.
  • Support local youth and graduates via scholarships, civic programs, and sports.
  • Partner with community organizations to strengthen local causes including parks, schools, and revitalization efforts.
  • Promote belonging and leadership through inclusion in local and global Lions initiatives—especially addressing vision health worldwide through Lions Clubs International and Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation
